I have presented the published and abstracted research described above extensively at local, national and international levels.
I was awarded the ‘Top 20 presenter’ at the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) Conference in 2010 and 2011.

Since then, I have delivered invited lectures and conducted hands-on CT colonography training symposia every year.

I have recently chaired a session on future directions in gastrointestinal radiology at this year’s British Institute of Radiology Annual Congress and joined the Faculty at the 2019 European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology postgraduate course.

INTERNATIONAL

As a member of the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology Educational Faculty I am comfortable with a broad range of training from individual supervision up to invited lectures for an international audience.
I have instructed at European CT colonography educational workshops for over eight years. Responsibilities have range from hands-on workshops to large group seminars

I designed, developed and implemented an interactive multimedia symposium on behalf of the ESGAR CT colonography training faculty. Presented at IMAGINE exhibitions at the European Congress of Radiology, 2008 and 2009.

I was invited to lecture at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR), European Society of Gastroenterological and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR), the Joint Meeting of the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (ESTI) and the Fleischer Society in 2015

I have presented my research extensively on the subject of GI radiology with my outcomes informing practice at local, national and international levels.

LOCAL TRAINING

Having been appointed as Royal College of Radiologists’ Speciality Tutor in 2014 to oversee training of all radiology postgraduate trainees within the Colchester training scheme I carried out a complete revision of the training programme, appointed a new educational faculty and saw our GMC survey result improve significantly.
I am currently an Educational Supervisor for the UCLH training scheme

In addition to radiology trainees, I regularly teach medical students, surgical registrars and foundation programme trainees. I have mentored several radiographers through their PgD in Clinical Reporting.

I was quality assurance lead for colorectal cancer imaging in Colchester for six years developing and maintaining a comprehensive audit of all CT colonography examinations performed both locally and at satellite NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme centres. I remain closely involved with the BCSP in my current role as an accredited CTC radiologist, teaching on international courses.

I have been providing expert witness medico-legal reports for over six years. I have undergone several relevant training courses and am currently in the process of obtaining the Bond Solon Cardiff University Certificate for Expert Witnesses in civil claims.

I have produced over 50 reports for The Court dealing with alleged negligence, instructed by both Claimant and Defendant solicitors. Currently, my work is split approximately equally with a ratio of 45:50:5 for defendant, claimant and single joint witness instructions respectively. The majority have been full liability (breach and causation) reports although I have also provided several ‘short’ screening reports where instructed.

I take great pride in my medicolegal work and despite full-time clinical commitments, I turn around all reports within less than six weeks and aim to address clarifications such as responses to Part 35 questions within one week. As a result, I have received excellent feedback from my instructing solicitors and their clients (available on request).

Whilst at medical school I spent two years as entertainment manager where I was responsible for a complete revision of the light and sound systems in the student bar.  By playing regular DJ sessions I ultimately gained the opportunity to play music at several London clubs. I continue to mix in my spare time and am trying to pass my (limited) skills onto my teenage children.

I try to spend as much of my spare time as I can with my young family.  When I need to unwind, I have a classic mini that I am (still) in the process of restoring. 

In the past I played chess for England having been British under 14 champion; I coached my local primary school team and saw the team qualify for the national finals.
